Awards
For applicants residing and working within the United Kingdom
In association with the Royal College of Radiologists and the College of Radiographers, the trustees of Symposium Mammographicum are pleased to announce that they are offering to a limited number of radiologists and radiographers or other members of the diagnostic team an annual award of up to a maximum of £5,000 each to take up an appointment at a recognised centre in either the UK or overseas to undertake research and learn the latest techniques in mammographic practice.
The awards are designed to contribute towards training fees, the cost of travel, accommodation and subsistence as well as attendance at the subsequent Symposium Mammographicum conference where successful applicants will be required to present a report on the results of their research. Applicants will be expected to make their own arrangements and Heads of Departments will be expected to provide their own cover in the absence of the applicant.
Eligibility
- Radiologists may hold a training or consultant post, may be accredited or not accredited, although they should be postgraduate FRCR, and must be actively involved in breast work
- Radiographers must be working in mammography
- Only research related to breast diagnosis/imaging applies
Applicants are required to submit the information listed below to the Company Secretary on the official Application Form which can be downloaded from this site or sent by post on request. Applications will be reviewed each January and July.
Criteria
- Curriculum vitae
- A proposal of the intended research topic
- The name of the preferred research centre
- A detailed budget (£5,000 is the absolute limit and any excess must be funded by the applicant)
- The commencement date
- Endorsement from the present Institute
- Confirmation that a written report of the results will be submitted to the applicant's own Institute with a copy sent to the trustees and the results will be presented at the subsequent Symposium Mammographicum conference
Applicants will be expected to introduce the results of their research into UK practice
